Since 2005, we have helped build medical libraries, and shipped over 2,000 medical textbooks, as well as journals and periodicals, to the following countries:

Cameroon, Ghana, Zambia, Iraq, and Vietnam.

We are developing new partnerships with medical schools in Nigeria and Brazil.

MEDICAL LIBRARIES IN AFRICA

Providing educational resources for medical students in Africa and across the globe

We are an education project and a global heath initiative. Our mission is to give medical students the educational resources they need to succeed in school so that they can go on to provide quality health care for their communities.

Who We Are

Siblings Beatrice Igne-Bianchi and Jonathan Igne-Bianchi founded Medical Libraries in Africa in 2005. We are partnered with the Massachusetts Medical Society's Committee on Global Health and the MMS Alliance's Boston District. The New England Journal of Medicine is a subdivision of the MMS.

Even though access to the Internet has grown, it is not widely available for all. Many medical school libraries in Africa and other developing regions do not even have the most basic educational materials like textbooks.
